Friends of The Hermitage

The Hermitage holds a very special place in the hearts of so many who have experienced the beauty of this place and the Marist Spirituality which cocoons you as you wonder the spacious grounds and historical buildings.

In order to continue to keep people connected to The Hermitage, and be able to update them on programs, retreat offerings, new initiatives and the development of the art
projects onsite, we are creating a Friends of The Hermitage group.

As well as receiving regular correspondence, there will also be an opportunity to assist
financially with some of the projects emerging. The continued attention to
ensuring The Hermitage maintains and enhances its commitment to indoor and
outdoor art and prayer spaces is a key priority going forward and you can be part of this exciting work.

Please contact John Hickey at The Hermitage on (02) 4872 1911 to register or for further details.

Way of the Cross

Christopher John (Artist), Red Phoenix Glass

Station No. 2 – JESUS CARRIES HIS CROSS

A new ‘Way of the Cross’ has been commissioned, with fourteen stations to be installed along a new winding pathway within the pine tree precinct.

Situated between the La Rosey and La Valla sites of the property, this exciting new project will include the option of a QR code driven audio encounter, along with suggested reflection text. Visitors and guests will be able to undertake the way of the cross journey individually or as a group, with evocative lighting enabling night-time access.

The ‘Way of the Cross’ is one of five prayerful pilgrimages nestled within The Hermitage Walks project, due for completion in 2025.
